It’s always nice to have a school like MMA Richmond around where you can go and train if you’re interested in joining the world of MMA. However, if there isn’t a school around you or if you want to get in a little bit better shape on your own first, there are some tips you can follow.

First, cardio is vital. You have to be in shape and your conditioning has to be good. Second, your standing game – kicking and punching – is very important, as is being able to defend yourself from your MMA opponent. Third and finally, you have to know what to do on the ground. Wrestling knowledge is needed on the ground along with some martial arts training, and both are very important when coupled with the stand-up fighting and cardio to make up a good MMA training package.

If you don’t feel comfortable doing any of this on your own, a school can provide you with the training that you need to become a competitive MMA fighter and be ready for the cage.
